Harrisburg, PA – Traffic deaths in Pennsylvania reached a record low in 2016 with 1,188 fatalities on Pennsylvania roadways last year.
That’s a new low since record keeping began in 1928, and seven fewer than 2015. Governor Tom Wolf has said that, even though the statistics are getting better, we “still need to change driver behavior, keeping in mind that each person killed in a crash is a member of someone’s family.”
Remember, being behind the wheel means that you need to keep your attention focused on driving safely. You can prevent the majority of crashes by driving at a safe speed, keeping your eyes on the road, avoiding distractions like cell phones, never driving while impaired, and always wearing your seatbelt.
